根据使用经验，对于787飞机整个左侧、右侧或所有真空排污系统失效是一个多发的情况。787飞机安装有2台真空泵，用于为左右真空排污系统提供真空吸力。除此之外，两台真空泵同时为左右厕所、厨房的GWIV提供真空吸力用于排放GWIV所储存的灰水。根据波音的研究，真空泵失效原因之一：热敏保险失效即与GWIV堵塞有着一定的联系。

波音建议及时进行清洁或者疏通可以减少GWIV灰水箱及真空管路堵塞的概率。降低真空泵负载以避免真空泵的热敏保险失效。波音AMM 手册38-31-00给出了灰水系统8种疏通和清洁的方法，到底选择哪种方法比较合适呢？根据我们对手册及FTD 和波音SL 的解读，对8种方法分析如下：
Procedure 1 uses the galley clogclearing valve while electrically operating the gray water interface valve(galley sinks only). If procedure 1 does not clean the drain line, continuewith procedure 2. Procedure 2 uses the pinch valve to cycle the GWIV (eithergalley or lavatory gray water interface valve) to check for a possible plug.
方法1和方法2用来检查GWIV 是否堵塞，无清洁作用。还是使用真空泵的真空吸力来清除堵塞，会加大真空泵的负载。
Procedure 3 uses a plumbers snake toremove the blockage (with the gray water interface valve removed). Procedure 3is best for small or local blockages
方法3用来清除少量局部的堵塞，无清洁作用，且需要拆除GWIV ，因GWIV 一个1万多美元，多次拆装容易损坏。成本风险较大。
Procedure 4 removes the blocked tubeto clean it manually. Procedure 4 is best for large blockages.
方法4需要拆下堵塞的管路，易造成管路损坏，适用于较大的堵塞情况的处理。无管路养护作用。
Procedure 5 gives steps to soak thegray water drain line for a short period of time to remove blockages. It is notnecessary to remove the GWIV.
方法5没有给出需要清洁剂的量，无法进行前期生产准备。可操作性不强。
Procedure 6 gives alternate steps tosoak the gray water drain line for a long period of time to remove blockages.It is not necessary to remove the GWIV.
方法6浸泡时间大于6小时，航线操作困难。

方法7使用的清洁剂量较少，需求明确，且是GWIV厂家Zodiac批准的清洁步骤。
